Highways or Neighborhoods? Decide for Yourself at Upcoming I-5 Open House

Posted by AROW in News on June 7th, 2011 – Comments Off

The City of Portland and Oregon Department of Transportation are hosting an open house on June 29th to showcase the current work of the N/NE Quadrant and I-5 Broadway/Weidler Plans and ask for feedback. Based on ideas gathered at previous meetings and events, the project team has developed land use and transportation concept alternatives to illustrate how the area could develop over time. This work will be open to public input and general feedback.

N/NE Quadrant Project Open House
Wednesday, June 29, 2011
4:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Metro Regional Center Offices, 600 NE Grand, Council Chambers

(Metro is accessible by the #6 bus and blue, green and red MAX lines.  Visit www.trimet.org to plan your trip.  Parking is available on site, for a $6 fee.)

Some questions the open house will have for discussion and feedback include:

  • What type of new development should the plan encourage (residential, employment, entertainment, or a mix)?
  • What type of open space amenities best suit the needs of the area?
  • How should green infrastructure and natural systems be integrated?
  • What type and level of transportation improvements are needed to address connectivity, safety and congestion issues in the quadrant, and specifically in the I-5 Broadway/Weidler Interchange area?

Come join us, learn more about what’s been going on and provide feedback!

We will make reasonable accommodations for people with disabilities. Please notify us no fewer than five (5) business days prior to the event by phone 503-823-7700, by the TTY line at 503-823-6868 or by the Oregon Relay Service at 1-800-735-2900.
