Posted in News on April 11th, 2011 by Steve – Comments Off on Upcoming High Crash Corridor Open Houses: Barbur, Foster & 122nd

If you have strong concerns about the following corridors, you are encouraged to attend a series of open houses related to preventing crashes in some of the most dangerous locations in the city:

The Portland Bureau of Transportation will be hosting three public High Crash Corridor open houses in April and May.  Each open house is an opportunity to hear from community members about specific problem areas, discuss pedestrian, bicycle and transit deficiencies, and learn about existing transportation safety conditions.

The bureau is working to make the city’s highest-crash corridors safer through enhanced education, enforcement, and engineering strategies. High Crash Corridors are heavily-used streets with high vehicle speeds and more drinking and driving crashes, pedestrian fatalities, and distracted driving crashes. Efforts will be focused this year on SE Foster Road, SE/NE 122nd Avenue, SW Barbur Boulevard, and SE/NE 82nd Avenue. Open houses will be held at the following times and locations:
